Tea & Possibilities Episode 13: Basically Monogamous

INTRODUCTION

You can find me on Instagram and Twitter, as well as Ravelry. We also now have a Ravelry group!

Today's tea is my old favourite - Moroccan Mint with a twist of cardamom. In looking this up to share with you on the podcast, I see they sell single tea bags - genius!

Both the Best Year Ever KAL (#BestYearEverKAL) and The Wardrobe Project (#TandPWardrobeProject) kicked off on 1st January.

Happy post this week came from the lovely Rachel and Ami.

You can find Rachel on the Crafty Historian Podcast. She very kindly sent me a mini painting, a Star Trek project bag (!!) full of minis of Sirdar Crofter and Stranded Dyeworks and a lovely book - Dress Shop of Dreams by Menna van Praag.

Ami of the Little Tailoress Podcast sent me the Morroccan Mint tea along with lots of other goodies, including Pukka Love tea. She included her first pattern, The Emmeline Tee which is exceptional quality and I'm really looking forward to making it as the instructions are so comprehensive and ideal for this beginner! She also included some amazing mini skeins and a progress keeper.

I feel thoroughly spoilt - thank you both :)

(By the way, the tangent I went on was about Lucy Worsley's documentary about the Six Wives of Henry VIII)

WIP'D UP!

Yarn wise, I've been pretty monogamous so I can get this blanket done in plenty of time...

(Little) Girl Gang Baby Blanket
Pattern: Crochet Girl Gang by Emma Potter (of Potter & Bloom) and Emma Friedlander-Collins (of Steel & Stitch). Part One is done and I'm now working on Part Two. You can find all the parts of the pattern linked on my Ravelry project page.
Yarn: Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in the Steel & Stitch colourway

Otherwise, I've been working on my Wardrobe Project (#TandPWardrobeProject). I found my template for outfits by googling 'Fashion Template'.

I've been working on Collette's Wardrobe Architect, I'm about to embark on Part 4 now, thinking about silhouettes.

The blogger that I jotted down as a style icon is Rebecca of the A Clothes Horse blog.

Big news! I'm going to Edinburgh Yarn Festival in March!! I'm incredibly excited and I cannot wait! Not sure yet if I'll be going to the podcaster meet up or what day I'll be at the Festival. As soon as I know, I will let you know. Please let me know any recommendations for places to eat, things to do, anything like that!

KNIT & NATTER

While I was going to talk about self-care vs selfishness this weekend, I felt that I had to voice my solidarity with the people marching across the world. I am incredibly sad that I wasn't able to join the London march, but I am so behind the people who did march.

The Pussy Hat Project ensured there were plenty of knitted pink hats on view, which was awesome and I'm so proud to be part of the community that did that. You can join their Ravelry group here - The Pussyhat Project.

While I am not an American, I believe that the rights of women is a universal concern - equality of all types (race, sexuality, gender) is the foundation of everything and something that we should fight for. I will certainly be joining in any further support for equality and will share on the podcast when I hear about great causes.

Have a great week and I'll see you next week for another cuppa!

  1. Woo for EYF! Definitely check out some of the hills while you're in town. Arthur's Seat has amazing views, and Calton Hill is smaller but still nice views. The Pentlands just outside to town are beautiful and accessible by public transport. I recommend The Beach House in Portobello for tea & cake (total opposite side of town from the festival, though).
